The trails in the Fernkloof Nature Reserve are suited for people of different fitness levels. You can hike up to the highest point of the reserve at Aasvoelkop and marvel over the panoramic views. There are three different self-guided routes and maps are available from the visitors centre. There is also a 17km, circular mountain bike trail signposted for clockwise travel and may be joined at any point within the Fernkloof Nature Reserve. The surface is mainly jeep track, but a few substantial stretches of single track add to the attraction of the route.

The Cliff Path in Hermanus is one of the treasures of this lovely town. The path stretches along the coast for roughly 10km. The path is well maintained and there are viewing spots with benches at regular intervals along the way.

There are plenty of paths suitable for mountain biking in the Hermanus Mountains and nearby in the Frans Senekal Nature Reserve in Vermont. There is also a 2-hour coastal walk from Vermont to Hawston (only 15 min from the house).

More information about mountain biking in Hermanus can be found on the Hermanus Cycle Club or mtbroutes.co.za websites.

Crimson Views Feedback

"we had an exceptional time at the house, so much so that we almost didn't want to leave. We really enjoyed and made constant use of the games room. We'll definitely recommend it to friends and family and will surely return."
- Lucille Abrahams, Aug 2009
