In season you will hear the cries of the kelp horn. The first whale crier in the world spent his days spotting the whales in Walker bay and alerting the public.
Hermanus was also awarded Blue Flag status for several years in a row. The Blue Flag is a symbol of high environmental standards as well as good sanitary and safety facilities at the beach.
